Programs
The mission of Backcountry Communities Thriving is to ensure the well-being of each child, family and individual in Julian and surrounding rural areas through advocacy, service and support to foster a thriving community.
What does BCT do?
Currently we are working on and establishing the following programs with more to follow. Is there a particular program that you would like to support? Let us know and your donation will go to fund that particular program fund. We greatly appreciate your support!
Educational Support for Local High School Students
One of our many goals for Backcountry Communities Thriving is to provide support for local students seeking to advance their educational career. Through donations and grant opportunities, we will be able to provide educational awards to those who want to expand their education while still in high school. Visit the Educational Support page for more information.
Supporting Food Distributions
Backcountry Communities Thriving is the lead for the Feeding San Diego bimonthly distribution at the Butterfield Ranch Community. When available, BCT also volunteers with the San Diego Food Bank at their local food distributions in Julian and Shelter Valley. Visit the Food Distribution page for locations and schedules.
Community Wellness
Health and wellness comes in many forms. Whether is it physical, mental or social wellness, BCT believes that a community's wellness is dependent upon the wellness of each and every resident. As a result, BCT aims to provide access to a variety of wellness options. Visit our Health & Wellness page for details.
Disaster Preparedness
Since we are in a rural area, BCT knows all too well how important it is be prepared. BCT is working with regional Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) programs in an effort to educate the public about disaster preparedness. BCT has also manages the Julian Fire Safe Council. Visit our Disaster Preparedness page for important information.
