Backcountry Communities Thriving
The mission of Backcountry Communities Thriving is to ensure the well-being of each child, family and individual in Julian and surrounding rural areas through advocacy, service and support to foster a thriving community.
Keep Julian Safe!
Please help the Julian community safe from violent predators! State officials are asking a judge to allow a sexually violent predator convicted of molesting two children in the 1980s to live in a home in Julian. The proposal calls for placing Gary Snavely in a home at 3452 Wynola Road, less than a mile from state Route 79. This home is 880 yards from a church that is often used for homeschool families and it is 1.3 miles from Spencer Valley School District. Officials are collecting public comment ahead of a March 7th hearing in San Diego Superior Court for a judge to review the request. State Assemblymember Carl DeMaio, State Senator Kelly Seyarto and Supervisor Joel Anderson have online petitions to oppose this placement. Please consider signing all three of the petitions by February 16th to keep Snavely out of our community.
Hard copies of Supervisor Anderson's petition are available at Backcountry Connections located at 2007 Main Street, Suite B in Julian. Other ways to oppose the placement are:
